HOW TO TACKLE THE OBSTACLE OF AGE LIMIT DURING JOB APPLICATION

Age discrimination is now something so serious while searching for job. HRs will say 24 to 26 years or maximum of 28 years when most Nigerian youths are still seeking for admission at the age of 25 or even those 28years. Before he/ she will complete higher education, there will be problem to get a desired or required job.

Even if the employer states the age range don’t worry, just go ahead to apply. BUT DON’T PUT YOUR AGE IN YOUR CV. Most of them are likely to call you when they see your experience and academic qualifications.

When you get to the interview venue and you are asked why you omitted your date of birth, politely tell them that you think age doesn’t really matter when looking for competent, experienced and someone who will add value to the organization and that’s why you have omitted your date of birth.

They too understand! If you apply for 8 job vacancies, with date of birth specification, be sure that at least 3 or more will call you for interview. Please don’t be intimidated because of it.

Another secret of specifying date of birth is to reduce the number of candidates that apply for the position. So, many candidates will automatically be scared away while the brave ones will apply and get the best.

So, never relent in job search and don’t allow the age range or date of birth to scare you away.
