Job Description

  • This position will provide leadership and strategic direction, consistent with the overall mission, philosophy and policies of the organization, with responsibility for achieving outcome-based performance improvements and guiding transformative growth.
  • Serving as a key member of the Organization’s Executive Leadership Team, the HR and QI manager will direct staff in quality improvements, effective utilization of resources and ensuring that the financial integrity of the institution is well maintained.
  • This position requires the ability to motivate and inspire teams, deliver quality, and financial performance; manage multiple projects from concept to completion; ensure high consumer satisfaction, and support connections between the organization’s subsidiaries.
  • The ideal candidate will possess solid experience demonstrating the ability to plan effectively, manage productively, recognize and reward positive results, thus creating an environment and culture that enables the organization to fulfil its mission by achieving or exceeding multiple high-priority goals.
Policies and Procedures:

  • Oversee the overall maintenance of the office premises, facilities assets and equipment (physical work environment) and ensure that these are secure and efficiently utilized.
 Strategic Human Resources Planning:
  • Design and manage staffing strategies to ensure appropriate recruitment, retention and succession of staff including orientation programmes; design and implementation of compensation and performance management systems relevant for both development and emergency contexts.
  • Develop, maintain and review job descriptions, job evaluation guidelines and employment terms.
  • Develop a culture of performance management across the organization, where staff are held accountable and rewarded for high performance.
  • Carrying out periodic goal settings and appraisal exercises, and monitoring performance through quarterly reviews.
  • Addressing all disciplinary issues through the accurate interpretation of the procedures laid out in the Human Resource Policies.
  • Review and recommend to the MD the authorization of Payments, and the payroll.
  • Ensure appropriate personnel files and HR documentation is maintained and secure.
 Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • B.Sc with a minimum of Second-Class Honours (Upper Division) in Human Resources, Business Administration, Marketing  Law, Nursing or Physiotherapy from a reputable tertiary institution.
  • M.sc or MBA in Human Resources or Business Administration from a reputable tertiary institution.
  • Minimum of two (3) years cognate management experience in a similar position.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body and professional certification in HR (such as CIPM, CIPD, SHRM)
  • Evidence of experience in providing human resources and administration in a reputable company.
  • Master's and/or postgraduate specialisation in Human Resources or Business Administration (MBA) with specialisation in HR.
  • Resourcefulness in developing the role of HR and setting frameworks for staff development within the organization.
  • Competent level skills in core IT applications, particularly MS Office, EXCEL.
  • Leadership skills, including the ability to supervise and motivate qualified professional staff with strong personal value systems.
  • Extraordinary Integrity, loyalty and honesty.
  • Exceptional oral and written communications skills in English

Fully-Funded UNESCO/APCEIU Youth Leadership Workshop to Korea 2020

The Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) will organize the 6th Youth Leadership Workshop on GCED (Global Citizenship Education) from 25 to 31 May 2020.
The one-week Workshop aims to build capacity of dynamic youth leaders around the world to identify strategies to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Target 4.7. While enabling participants to deepen their understanding of GCED, the Workshop allows the young leaders to play a major role and become part of a wider network of youth leaders for GCED.
During the Workshop, participants will identify specific priority issues around global citizenship and establish plans for the future direction of GCED. Working both individually and in groups, the young leaders will devise the goals and strategies for use at local and national levels.
Participants will learn about specific areas such as GCED, human rights, and peace building through information sessions and engage in dialogue and debates on the evolving issues. As part of the Workshop, participants will also make a field visit to discuss the role of youth for a more peaceful and sustainable future.
Travel expenses and Workshop fees will be covered by APCEIU for the selected participants (participants will be responsible for the domestic travel expenses and visa fees in their own countries).
Eligibility Criteria:
  • Open to youths between 19 and 28 years of age
  • Applicants must be youths who are citizens of both the ODA recipient countries and the UNESCO member states.
  • The Youth Leadership Workshop is taught in English so applicants must be proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Applicants have to complete the e-learning course with passing grades. Other than that, your application will not be considered during the selection process.

  • APCEIU will provide accommodation, meals, and local transportation for all participants during the workshop;
  • APCEIU will also cover the round-trip international airfare to and from Seoul, Korea. However, participants are responsible for domestic travel expenses to and from international airport in their countries and Korean visa application fees;
  • Certificates of completion will be offered at the end of the workshop only if you have attended more than 95% of the workshop programme.

Up to $100,000 for Grab at NLNG Prize for Science 2020

Nigeria LNG (NLNG) Limited invites entries for The Nigeria Prize for Science, in line with its vision of helping to build a better Nigeria. This annual prize for science is endowed by Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) to recognise outstanding scientific achievements by Nigerians and non-Nigerians alike for advancing scientific solutions to prescribed problems afflicting Nigeria, as captured by the theme of the year. The winner(s) would receive an award of one hundred thousand US dollars ($100,000.00).
SCOPE:
  • Improvement in food production with adequate nutritional values that meet the needs of the population
  • Processes in food production and food process technologies
  • Organic food preservation technologies
Eligibility Criteria
  • The award is open to scientists worldwide (Nigeria and non Nigerians) involved in the application of science to proffer innovations in sustainable food security.
  • The work should be of outstanding merit and should have advanced the frontiers of knowledge and /or provided an innovative solution in the area of sustainable food security.
  • The submission for consideration must be original and indicate the specific area of merit; and all submissions must relate to that particular area.

2020 Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Prize ($100,000) for Literature

Entries are hereby invited for The Nigeria Prize for Literature. The yearly literary prize is endowed by Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited to honour the author of the best book by a Nigerian within the last four years.
The prize rotates among four literary genres – prose fiction, poetry, drama and childrens literature. This year, the competition is for Children’s Literature.
The competition is open only to published works by Nigerian writers irrespective of place of residence. It carries a reward of $100,000.
