Job Description
  • To check and ensure total adherence to the company policy and procedures.
  • Daily/regular review/check of posting done by Finance staff on a next day basis to facilitate early detection of errors.
  • Conduct periodic stock taking. A monthly stock taking is recommended. The Individual will agree physical stock to the systems records and differences if any must be investigated and resolved.
  • Continuous review of processes in order to ensure that inherent process gaps that could lead to error and fraud are closed out immediately once noticed.
  • To check and ensure there are no wastages and leakages in admin and procurement transactions.
  • Review of Bank charges on monthly basis in order to ensure early detection and to ensure that wrong charges are immediately reversed by banks.
  • Fixed assets verifications.
  • Review and ensure compliance to regulations and laws governing the sector
  • To carry out investigation of abuses, error, fraud etc., recommend according to human resources sanction grid and report same directly to the CEO for immediate action.
  • To check and ensure that all statutory deductions and taxes are remitted as and when due.
  • To render weekly exceptions report with appropriate recommendations.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by the DMD/MD

Rangeland Energy III LLC subsidiary, Rangeland Midstream Canada, Ltd., has begun construction of its Marten Hills Pipeline System.

Rangeland Energy III LLC subsidiary, Rangeland Midstream Canada, Ltd., has begun construction of its Marten Hills Pipeline System.

The Calgary-based company was formed in 2016 and first announced earlier this year that it was building the pipeline.

The pipeline system will include new crude oil and condensate pipelines located in the Marten Hills region of north central Alberta and it will span 52.8 miles. It will stop at an interconnect with Plains Midstream Canada’s Rainbow Pipeline System, which serves the Edmonton, Alberta, hub and refining market.

“Rangeland Canada is excited to announce that we have received all of the required permits and regulatory approvals that allow us to begin clearing rights of way in advance of pipeline construction, which is expected to begin later this month,” Rangeland Canada vice president of business development Briton Speer said in a company statement. “The Marten Hills system will alleviate infrastructure bottlenecks and allow us to provide our customers with flow assurance and the safe, high-quality transportation services they need to access the best markets.”

The Marten Hills Pipeline System is expected to come into service in the second quarter of 2020.

$4B India Complex Might Use Wind and Solar Power

Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. (ADNOC) reported Thursday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Adani Group, BASF SE and Borealis AG to study the feasibility of developing a chemical production complex in Mudra, India.

With the MOU, ADNOC and Borealis become potential partners in a BASF-Adani proposal to develop acrylics value chain facilities at Mundra Port in India’s Gujarat state. In January of this year, BASF and Adani signed a separate MOU to explore developing, constructing and operating what would be BASF’s largest-ever investment in India. According to a BASF written statement at the time, the acrylics value chain complex would primarily serve the Indian market and would comprise the following units:
Propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plant
Oxo C4 complex (butanols and 2-ethylhexanol)
Glacial acrylic acid (GAA)
Butyl acrylate (BA)
Potentially other downstream products.

The four-way MOU announced Thursday represents the “next step” in BASF and Adani’s plan unveiled earlier this year, and the various parties are examining structuring options for the chemical complex that would take advantage of each firm’s technical, financial and operational strengths, ADNOC noted in a written statement emailed to Rigzone. The companies project a total investment of up to $4 billion.

According to ADNOC, the collaborators will evaluate a joint world-scale PDH plant that would use ADNOC-supplied propane to produce propylene. In addition, the company noted that propylene would be a partial feedstock for a polypropylene (PP) complex that it would own jointly with Borealis. Also, it stated that propylene would be the key raw material for the acrylics complex outlined in the bulleted list above.

“As a value-adding partner, ADNOC will play a crucial role as the propane feedstock supplier to this project,” commented Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of State and ADNOC Group CEO. “As the fastest-growing global energy market, India is crucial to our international growth ambitions in the downstream sector. As such, this project allows ADNOC and its partners to capture the promising growth in the Indian polyolefins market.”

Borealis CEO Alfred Stern stated the partnership would boost his company’s presence in India and use proprietary Borealis Borstar PP technology.

Martin Brudermueller, chairman of the board of BASF SE, noted the chemical complex would be “pioneering in terms of sustainability.” According to BASF, the partners are evaluating co-investing in a wind and solar park that – if realized – would make the Mundra complex the world’s first CO2-neutral petrochemical site fully powered by renewable energy.

ADNOC, BASF, Borealis and Adani expect to finalize the joint feasibility study by the end of the first quarter of 2020. They also anticipate that production at the proposed Mundra complex could begin in 2024.

WTI and Brent crude oil finished higher for the second consecutive day.

West Texas Intermediate (WTI) and Brent crude oil finished higher for the second consecutive day.

The WTI for November delivery added 57 cents Thursday, settling at $53.93 per barrel. The light crude marker traded within a range from $52.99 to $53.99.

December Brent moved closer to the psychologically important $60-mark, gaining 49 cents to end the day at $59.91 per barrel.

In addition to watching ongoing items influencing the oil market such as U.S./China trade and the broader global economic situation, traders also weighed a report that Saudi Aramco has postponed its planned November initial public offering (IPO). Citing an unnamed source, Bloomberg reported that Saudi Aramco wants to wait to kick off the IPO until it can provide investors more details on its quarterly earnings in the wake of the Sept. 14 attack on its vital Abqaiq oil processing facility.

Also, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) predicts record-setting oil production in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) for 2018 through 2020. The agency reported that GOM production hit approximately 1.8 million barrels per day (bpd) last year and should reach 2 million bpd in 2020. Supporting the output growth are 12 new deepwater projects slated to go online this year and next.

The reformulated gasoline (RBOB) contract finished the day slightly lower. November RBOB lost less than one cent to settle at $1.62 per gallon.

Rounding out Thursday’s commodity price lineup is Henry Hub natural gas. November gas futures added 1.5 cents to settle at $2.32.

(Bloomberg) -- Saudi Aramco has postponed the launch of the world’s largest initial public offering, according to a person briefed on the situation. That may put the oil giant’s planned November listing in jeopardy.
The decision to delay the listing was abrupt. Aramco was preparing for an official launch of the share sale on Oct. 20. The Saudi government had seemed determined to press on in the face of potential headwinds that include weak oil prices, a slowing world economy and last month’s attack on the company’s biggest processing plant.
While details of the offer haven’t been made public, people involved in the transaction said earlier this month that about 2% of Aramco might be sold at a price that would value the entire company at $2 trillion, raising $40 billion and easily exceeding the $25 billion raised in 2014 by Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. The shares were set to trade only on Riyadh’s stock exchange, the Tadawul.

The Sept. 14 attack disrupted output and sent shock waves through energy markets, triggering the biggest one-day jump in Brent crude prices on record and stoking security concerrns Investors are already demanding a premium to hold the country’s debt, downgraded this month by Fitch Ratings Ltd.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s desire to get a $2 trillion valuation for the energy giant comes as analysts slash their earnings-per-share estimates for Saudi companies for the coming 12 months. They have cut them by 13% this year, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
Aramco wants to delay the IPO’s launch until it can give investors more clarity on its quarterly earnings following the attack, the Financial Times reported earlier.

Gulf Oil Production to Set Records Through 2020Oil production in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) hit a new annual record of about 1.8 million barrels per day (bpd) in 2018, and the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) anticipates additional production records in 2019 and in 2020 from the region. This is despite the shut-ins tied to Hurricane Barry in July and includes adjustments for hurricane-related shut-ins for the rest of this year and 2020.
Annual oil production in the GOM is expected to jump to 1.9 million bpd in 2019 and reach 2 million bpd the following year, the agency reported. Despite the growth projections, GOM crude oil production will account for a smaller portion—just 15 percent—of the total in the U.S. This figure was 23 percent back in 2011, but since then onshore production growth has been outpacing offshore.
Eight new deepwater projects are expected to come online this year while four should come online in 2020. Majority operators for the 2019 starts include LLOG, Shell, Oxy, Murphy Oil and W&T Offshore. Talos Energy, BP, Murphy Oil and Fieldwood Energy are majority operators for the 2020 starts.
The agency expects these projects in total to add around 44,000 bpd this year and approximately 190,000 bpd in 2020 as their production ramps up.
In 2019, oil production in the GOM slipped from 1.9 million bpd in June to 1.6 million bpd the following month because of Hurricane Barry-related platform evacuations. However, production recovered fairly quickly, as GOM oil production hit 2 million bpd in August 2019.
Oil price spikes in 2017 and 2018 (compared to the lows in 2015 and 2016) haven’t yet had a marked effect on operations in the GOM, but they have the potential to contribute to higher rig counts and field discoveries in the coming years, according to the EIA.

Deepwater Transformation Sparking New InterestChanges have revived interest in deepwater projects and enabled new ones in regions including the North Sea, the Gulf of Mexico and China Seas.
Traditionally, deep-water exploration and production projects are not known for being small scale, fast or budget-friendly. The price crash of 2014 forced big oil to become cost conscious and make changes that are detailed in Wood Mackenzie’s report,The Deepwater Cost Curve: revisited in November 2018. Notable reforms include adopting an industrial approach to field development, in which standardization and modularization replaced customization, and automation introduced additional speed in the deepwater sector.
Design changes, including greater use of subsea tiebacks, and reformed work practices have reinvented this sector by sharply reducing costs, increasing productivity and field development speed. In the process the closer collaboration between operators and field service contractors has generated environmentally-friendly technology solutions. These major reforms have revived interest in deepwater projects and enabled new projects in high cost oil-producing regions including the North Sea, the Gulf of Mexico and China Seas.

Times ‘are-a-changing’

The return to deep waters is characterized by projects that are simpler, have lower upfront costs and operating expenses, higher productivity and allow projects to come in within budget and on schedule. To illustrate this, Wood Mackenzie’s report shows that compared with 2013, 2018s deepwater cost curve is lower and longer and unit costs are down by over 50 percent. Consequently, a growing number of  what were previously considered uneconomic projects are now considered viable at $50 a barrel, including new low-breakeven developments in Angola, West Africa, the Gulf of Mexico and the North Sea. As remarkable as these developments are deepwater still trails shale in the time it takes investors to recover their initial investment: offshore is down from 10 years to seven while shale is now under two.
Financial recovery times perhaps explain the dominance of big oil in deepwater projects. The report shows that 74 percent of the projected US$250 billion of pre-FID spend sits on the books of just eight companies: Petrobras, Shell, Exxon, Chevron, BP, Eni, Total, Equinor, Anadarko and Woodside. However, there are some smaller players in the mix including LLOG in the Gulf of Mexico, Cairn Energy off Senegal and Tower Resources off Cameroon.

Changing approaches

Oil rigs to FPSOs
  • The oil rig platforms of offshore developments could, in the future be replaced with floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels, a design pioneered by Statoil, (now Equinor) at its Johan Castberg Field in the Barent Sea. Its benefits include better optimization of layout, cutting the number of wells from 43 to 30 and the total number of subsea templates from 15 to 10.
Implementing standardization and modularization
  • In the days of $100 a barrel, tailor-made field developments were the norm. Comparatively low oil prices have forced the industry to adopt standardization of tools, equipment and software. Benefits include lower stock inventories, increased competition among suppliers, economies and scale and consistent quality which are reflected in lower costs. Equinor is a case in point, having installed a standard type of freshwater maker throughout its offshore assets which has resulted in a near 90 percent reduction in capex.
Technological advances improve safety, reduce costs
  • Automation, digitization, computing and analytical software are helping to guide operational decision-making, reducing risk while improving safety, efficiency and industry economics, which combined paves the way for new entrants to the industry.  
McKinsey Energy forecasts that the world will need  43 MMbbl/d (million barrels per day) of new crude production from yet unsanctioned projects to satisfy demand in 2035. Offshore developments are expected to account for around 30 percent, half of which will come from deepwater and ultra-deep resources.
