The Graduate School of Social Sciences at University of Amsterdam, Netherlands would like to invite potentially eligible Social Science students to apply for the AES scholarship.

Selection Criteria: Eligible candidates are selected for a scholarship on the basis of their academic excellence and promise in the proposed field, as evidenced by:
  • the candidate’s academic record. Students from any discipline belonging to the top 10% of graduates from their class can apply;
  • the academic quality of the educational institute where the undergraduate (or graduate) programme has been obtained;
  • a letter of recommendation by a dean, teacher or academic supervisor;
  • the quality of the letter of motivation (maximum 500 words) in which the candidate explains the reasons for choosing the specific Master’s programme (broader context, relevance for future career);
  • a description of extracurricular activities such as participation in student committees, international experience, sports or music at a high level or volunteer work;
  • proof of English proficiency (IELS/TOEFL) :TOEFL (internet-based) –  overall score of 100 (with a minimum score of 22 in each of the different components), IELTS (academic) – overall score of 7.0 (with a minimum score of 7.0 in each of the four components);
  • the quality of the application as a whole (completeness, accuracy, consistency).
Eligibility Criteria: Students from any discipline who graduated in the top 10% of their class may apply. Candidates wishing to apply for an AES scholarship must meet the following requirements:
  • Hold a non-EU/EEA passport and not be eligible for support under studiefinanciering, the Dutch system of study grants and loans. The scholarship office should be notified as soon as possible of any change in nationality, type of residence permit, and/or possible studiefinanciering support throughout the academic year.
  • Be (provisionally) admitted to an English-taught Master’s degree programme at the University of Amsterdam which is registered in the Central Register of Higher Education Programmes (CROHO). You can apply for the Master’s programme and the AES scholarship simultaneously. Your Master’s application will be assessed before the AES deadline. In your application, clearly indicate that you are applying for the AES scholarship.
  • Be (provisionally) admitted to a Master’s programme at the UvA for the first time. An AES will not be awarded to candidates who are admitted for a second Master’s programme at the UvA.
  • Be able to comply with Dutch visa regulations as indicated by the Dutch Immigration Service (IND).
  • Be enrolled at the UvA as a full-time student for the academic year and the programme for which the scholarship is awarded. Scholarship continuation is not guaranteed when a candidate changes his or her Master’s programme.
  • The candidate should not receive another scholarship for the same period of study as the AES. Notify the UvA if you have been awarded and accepted another scholarship.
Number of Scholarships: The UvA will award up to 6 of these scholarships annually.
Value of Scholarship: Full scholarship of €25,000, covering tuition and living expenses for one academic year. Scholarship recipients become part of a select community, taking part, for example, in extracurricular activities developed specially for them.
Duration of Scholarship: Students who receive the AES for a two-year Master’s programme will be evaluated after one year of study. The scholarship will only be continued for the second year if the AES student has completed all courses of the first year on time and with a grade point average of 8.0.
Method of Application: You can submit your application by completing the following steps:
  1. Submit your application for the Master programme of your choice. Note that your application needs to be complete, so with all required documents including valid language test scores. 
  2. Receive your UvA student number and master application file number
  3. Fill out and submit the application form for the Amsterdam Excellence Scholarship (you will need both your student number and your master application file number)

Aalto University offers Masters Scholarship for international (Non-EU/EEA) students to study in Finland for 2019/2020.

Value of Award:
  • Aalto University scholarships cover either 50 % (Category B) or 100 % (Category A) of the tuition fee. Aalto University scholarships are awarded as tuition fee waivers.
  • At the moment, Aalto University does not offer any university-wide scholarships to cover living costs in Finland. Students are expected to cover all living expenses (app. 800 EUR per month) and other study related costs from their own financial resources.
Duration of Programme: Scholarships are granted for the normative period of study of the degree programme. The normative study period is three (3) years full-time study for bachelor’s degree and two (2) years full-time study for master’s degree. Scholarship requires full-time study and studying according to the approved personal study plan.
Method of Application: If you are a non-EU/EEA citizen, you can apply for the scholarship at the same time you apply for your preferred study option with the same application form during the application period. In the application form for the study option, you will be asked questions by which your liability to fees is determined. If you are considered liable to a tuition fee, you will be offered an option to apply or not apply for a Aalto University Scholarship. It is not possible to apply for the scholarship after the application period has ended.

  • The Quest program is rigorous, and an important criterion for a scholarship award is the applicant’s academic record. This is not evaluated by strict numerical limits, however; we are more impressed by a student who has done well in the most challenging courses available rather than one who achieved the highest grades by choosing an easier route to graduation. 
  • The University is also interested in extracurricular activities — not the number of different clubs you joined, but the passion with which you pursued your non-academic interests and the impact you made on your compatriots and your community.
  • Some ways that students have demonstrated this is through sports, community service, leadership, theatre, clubs, volunteering, other talents, and so on.
  • Quest University Canada Scholarships are awarded to applicants who have demonstrated an eagerness to learn, an ability to lead, a willingness to contribute, and a passion for excellence.

The King Abdullah offers Masters and PhD Scholarship to all admitted students which supports students for the duration of their graduate studies in Saudi Arabia.

Eligibility Criteria: 
The Applicant’s age doesn’t exceed (35) years For PhD, and (30) years for Masters.
The Applicant must have a university degree from an accredited college or university and should have a degree with “very good” at least.
KAUST requires a minimum TOEFL score of 79 on the IBT (Internet Based Test) or 6.0 on the IELTS (International English Language Testing System). The KAUST admissions code is 4107. Only official TOEFL or IELTS scores will be accepted. TOEFL or IELTS scores for tests administered by an educational institution for admission to that particular institution are not acceptable.
A TOEFL or IELTS score is not required if the applicant received a degree from an accredited institution in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, or New Zealand.
KAUST does not require the GRE exam for admission. However, we strongly encourage students to take the GRE general test. A high quantitative score on the GRE will enhance a student’s application. Official test results should be sent directly from ETS. The KAUST admissions code is 4139.

Eligibility Criteria: Details for this program may vary by country. In general, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Current secondary school-level,* full-time teacher in an institution serving primarily a local population;
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent;
  • Five or more years of classroom experience as a teacher of English, English as a foreign language (EFL), mathematics, science, or social studies, including special education teachers in those subject areas;
  • Proficient in written and spoken English with a TOEFL score of 450 on the paper-based TOEFL or an equivalent English-language examination;**
  • Demonstrated commitment to continue teaching after completion of the program; and
  • A complete application.
*Secondary-level teachers include both middle and high school teachers working with students between approximately 12 and 18 years of age. Teachers responsible for teaching additional grade levels must teach middle school or high school students more than 50% of their work time in order to be eligible for the program.
