    Reporting Line: Reports to the Senior Accountant and Finance Manager

    Job Description
    • We are looking for an ambitious Accounts Officer to provide support to the financial department by managing daily accounting tasks.
    • You will be part of a team of professionals working to maintain order and transparency for the company's finances.
    • The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles, able to work comfortably with numbers, have attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
    • The goal is to contribute to the overall efficient operation of the department and help the company be fully aware of its financial condition.
    • This way it can make the right decisions and accomplish long term success.
    Responsibilities
    • Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are correctly recorded
    • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation and weekly petty cash reconciliation
    • Monitor customer account details for non-payments, delayed payments and other irregularities.
    • Process payments to suppliers, ensuring that all validations and checks are done
    • Assist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines
    • Assist with reviewing of expenses, payroll records etc. as assigned
    • Prepare the monthly/annual returns and the remittance of statutory deductions on payroll
    • Prepare monthly VAT and WHT returns
    • Discharge of company tax obligations to the government through remittance of WHT, VAT, and PAYE
    • Remittance of pension deductions
    • Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed
    • Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports
    • Assist senior accountant in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings
    • Assist with other accounting projects
    Requirements
    • Degree in Accounting, Finance or other relevant field
    • Minimum three years of relevant experience
    • Qualifications (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) is a plus but not required
    • Advanced knowledge of Excel (formulas and pivot tables)
    • Good knowledge of MS Office software and familiarity with Quickbooks
    • Excellent organizing abilities
    • Great attention to detail
    • Good with numbers and figures and an analytical acumen
    • Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
