HOW TO SEARCH AND APPLY FOR JOBS EVEN WHEN IT IS NOT ADVERTISED 

Job search is so difficult that most applicants get frustrated after they have applied for several jobs without any result. Even the few ones that yielded interview don’t result in call-up for employment offer.

I am here to share my experience with most job seekers here with the hope to help you seek job on time and with better companies. I have tried these and many job seekers have done so and it worked perfectly for them.

The first one is sending unsolicited cv with brief application letter and the subject titled: JOB CONSIDERATION with your cv attached to the mail. The truth is that most organizations don’t like advertising job vacancies that are not many. Once they have one or two vacancies, they try as much as possible to reduce stress and find other means. So, at this time, they try to either put it forward to fellow staffs, or come up to linkedin or remember someone who sent unsolicited cv and they give a trial.

I have gotten job interviews through this and I know a friend who is currently working in a big organization through unsolicited job vacancy sent. But the truth is that, you may not be called immediately. It may take months or even a year from experience and it may just be weeks and you will be called but be sure that if you diligently search for companies and send your cv, they MAY call you.

This is how to write to the organization:

Mail Subject: Job Consideration

Dear Sir,

Please kindly consider me for job in your organization. Sir, after I have gone through your company’s website, I discovered your company is a place to be in order to build my career.

I studied Applied Geophysics and I have certifications in HSE and EIA respectively. I can handle some geophysical softwares to interpret and process geophysical data. Sir, I can also handle some geophysical equipments such as GPR, Resistivity Terrameter, Magnetometer e.t.c

Sir, I know your organization has professionals who have great years of experience coupled with quality service rendered, I wont therefore mind if you can employ me as a Trainee in order to boost my experience sir.

I look forward to your favourable consideration to call me for an interview.

Thank you sir.

Yours faithfully,

(Your name)

The above excerpt works well and once an organization sees that you have a little experience, and they saw that you even want to accept a TRAINEE ROLE, they are always happy with it knowing fully well that they won’t pay much. Well, that pays you as well, since you will use that opportunity to build experience and after few years you can be boast of any company accepting you.

Another way is applying or contacting HRs through linkedin professional network. Instead of using the whole of your time on whatsapp, facebook e.t.c, chatting and jumping from one social media to another, you can use that medium/time to build your linkedin and put enough information that will make you stand out among others.

One of my formal bosses told us that he got his recent job through linkedin referral and even another one on the way. Several people have contacted me through linkedin and I have rendered my own little help while I have equally contact others too. Though, some people may ignore your message while some may say they can’t help but never be discouraged because one out of 10 after reviewing your profile will certainly help.

At least, I have received help of getting a material for a friend through linkedin and I have helped others in cv/resume review, Job latest information, relevant job postings, and giving materials about job interview to people.
